Bon Me – Boston

Bon you? No, Bon Me.

Part II of my food truck adventures at the SoWa Open Market in Boston lead me to a bright blue truck (rumor has it that there is also a yellow one…) that was serving fresh and flavorful Vietnamese cuisine .

Menu…in 3 easy steps!

I ordered the sandwich with K-Town chicken. During my “researching” on their website, the husband & wife duo mentioned that most first timers get the sandwich while the regulars might savor their noodle salads, rice bowls, and -if in season – soups. I fit right in with the sandwich as my first Bon Me experience :)

Roxy’s Grilled Cheese – Boston

I don’t even know how long I’ve been wanting to have a page on The Yum Diary revolving around food trucks. Seriously, since day one of this “little” project?! Websites, Facebook pages, television. You name it, it was used to research.

I’m usually a planner and for once, gasp, this trip was as spontaneous as it gets for me. Waking up, realizing it was going to be a gorgeous day, it was decided that we were going to make a road trip. I looked up food trucks and when I saw that multiple trucks were going to be at the SOWA Open Market in Boston, I was sold. The day had come…my first food truck.

As we all know, I love The Food Network. Roxy’s was featured – and did awesome – on TFN’s Great Food Truck Race last summer. When I saw them at the end of the row of trucks…it was as if it had a glow.  I knew, right there, that this was it. Roxy’s was the food truck line I would enter first.

Red Arrow Diner – Manchester

You would think that the Red Arrow would’ve been my very first post. It’s located in Manchester and less than five minutes from home. But no, I never do anything the “easy way”. Better late than never?

My cousin Kristen is a fellow foodie and was a champ for joining me in this little adventure. (The last time we went there, she had car problems – to say the least.)

Located in Manchester, Guy visited this local landmark on one of the first episodes of Triple D.

It’s that place that everyone in town knows. You go there to wrap up a late night out, to meet friends for breakfast, and everything in between. Tonight, I was there to try what Guy did – Pork Pie, American Chop Suey and a Dinah Finger!

Name plates all around show where celebrities sat when they visited…I sat where comedienne Sarah Silverman dined.

Poppyseed Bread!

It’s always fun to talk to others that enjoy cooking as much as I do. The assistant principal of the school I work at is one of those people. I was absolutely floored when she offered to share a recipe with me! Ms. Cherrie Fulton was so proud as she presented me with her recipe for Poppyseed Bread. She shared stories about her making it and couldn’t stop praising its deliciousness.

To say that I was excited was an understatement. At my first opportunity (which took longer than I had hoped), I purchased my ingredients and set forth on my newest endeavor.

Ready. Set. aaaand Go!

Dry and wet ingredients are each mixed together and ready to jump into the KitchenAid!

Mixing together…loved the smell that the various extracts gave off!
